Thistle Lodge is a newly constructed two-storey property situated at the end of a private lane off South Street in the vibrant town centre of St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. The owners have designed this charming lodge to serve as both an artist's studio on the ground floor and a luxurious holiday rental studio on the first floor. Nestled at the bottom of the owners' garden, the lodge occupies the former site of their garage and features proper vehicular access for guests during their arrival and departure, although parking is not available on-site.
Upon entering Thistle Lodge, guests are greeted by a designated area for storing golf bags and shoes before ascending a beautifully crafted wooden staircase that leads to the studio. The staircase is illuminated by a window at the top, flooding the space with natural light. The studio itself is thoughtfully arranged, featuring a comfortable living area equipped with a sofa, a small table with two chairs, a desk, and a Smart TV mounted on the wall. A large picture window dominates the living area, offering stunning views over the historic gardens that stretch behind the neighboring houses on South Street.
Adjacent to the living area is a well-equipped kitchen that includes a two-ring induction hob, a wall oven, a dishwasher, and a washer/dryer, complemented by a convenient boiling water tap at the sink. The bedroom, which lies off the living area, boasts a king-size zip and link bed that can be configured as either a double or two single beds, along with a dressing table and ample storage space. A modern shower room is also accessible from the bedroom, ensuring that the studio provides all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.
Thistle Lodge is expertly designed and fitted out to a high standard, making it a true "hidden gem" in the heart of St Andrews. Visitors should note that the annual Lammas Street Market will take place from August 4th to 10th, 2022, during which only pedestrian access will be permitted to South Street and Thistle Lodge. While the market may create a bustling atmosphere, the lodge's secluded location helps to mitigate noise levels. Guests can also explore local landmarks such as Swilken Bridge and Hill of Tarvit, as well as enjoy activities at Lundin Golf Club and Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, with attractions like the British Golf Museum and St. Andrews Aquarium nearby.
